DHL-sponsored Kalitta Motorsports teammates J.R. Todd and Richie Crampton will each race specially designed DHL 50th anniversary race cars during the final two NHRA national events scheduled to be contested in Las Vegas and Pomona.

Todd’s Toyota Camry Funny Car and Crampton’s Top Fuel dragster will be adorned with a throwback DHL logo alongside the current DHL livery. Since 2007 DHL and Kalitta Motorsports have been partners in one of the most successful sponsorships in motorsports.

The two successful businesses have built their partnership on excellence and an uncompromising pursuit of category leadership. Together they have won two NHRA Funny Car world championships with Del Worsham in 2015 and last season with Todd behind the wheel of DHL Toyota Camry Funny Cars. This season both Todd and Crampton are in the battle for their respective class world championships.

“I have had an excellent business relationship with DHL since 1989,” said Connie Kalitta, owner of Kalitta Air. “They have been a great business partner off the track and for more than two decades we have enjoyed tremendous success on the track with our motorsports sponsorship relationship. They are part of the Team Kalitta family and we are excited to celebrate their 50 year anniversary during our 60-year celebration.”

As the global leader in international express shipping and logistics services, DHL has enjoyed a decades-long partnership with Kalitta Air, which helps to transport DHL customers’ shipments around the globe. For the past two seasons, the DHL relationship with Team Kalitta has included primary sponsorship of Todd’s nitro Funny Car and Crampton’s Top Fuel dragster.

“The DHL and Kalitta partnership excels because whether it’s racing or logistics, both of our organizations are driven to be the best, putting speed, passion, and precision at the heart of everything we do,” said Christine Nashick, CMO for DHL Express Americas.  “This year, it’s even more special as we celebrate 50 years – from our humble beginnings to where we are today as a leading global brand in the logistics industry. We are thrilled to celebrate our history with Kalitta and see J.R. and Richie run these specially designed race cars in Las Vegas and Pomona that sport our DHL retro branding,”

Kalitta Motorsports is also celebrating 60 years in the sport of NHRA drag racing this season. Todd currently sits No. 8 in the Mello Yello points standings and is coming off a quarterfinal finish at the recent AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals and Crampton is No. 9 in Top Fuel.
