AAMCThe Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), which represents the US’ medical schools and teaching hospitals, has chosen GEP’s unified procurement software platform for sourcing, contract management and supplier management. GEP is a provider of procurement software and procurement services to FTSE 250, Fortune 500 and Global 2000 enterprises. It offered its SMART by GEP procurement software, a cloud-native direct and indirect procurement software platform.

Headquartered in Washington, DC, the AAMC will use the SMART by GEP unified procurement platform for sourcing, contract and supplier management functions.

SMART by GEP

SMART by GEP’s unified source-to-pay software platform, unifies all the functions of procurement in a single product. It is a cloud-native platform supporting touch and mobile technologies. As such it:

  • leverages cloud economics to deliver a solution
  • handles the heaviest processing requirements of Fortune 500 and Global 2000 enterprises
  • eliminates burdensome infrastructure and support costs.

SMART by GEP provides source-to-pay functionality in its cloud-native platform, inclusive of:

  • spend analysis
  • sourcing
  • contract management
  • supplier management
  • procure-to-pay
  • savings project management
  • savings tracking
  • invoicing
  • related functionalities.

With native touch and mobile technology support, it enables users to work anywhere, anytime on any device – and is agnostic. It works with SAP, Oracle and other major ERP and F&A systems.

About GEP

With 18 offices and operations centres in Europe, Asia and the Americas, New Jersey-based GEP’s purpose is to assist enterprises operate:

  • more efficiently and effectively
  • gain competitive advantage
  • boost profitability
  • maximize business and shareholder value.

Enterprise Times: what does this mean

This has the potential to become a big win by GEP. The AAMC has as its members:

  • 154 accredited U.S. and 17 accredited Canadian medical schools
  • nearly 400 major teaching hospitals and health systems, including 51 Department of Veterans Affairs medical centers
  • more than 80 academic societies.

Through these institutions and organisations, the AAMC serves those medical schools, teaching hospitals and their more than 173,000 full-time faculty members, 89,000 medical students, 129,000 resident physicians and 60,000+ graduate students and postdoctoral researchers in the biomedical sciences.

In effect the AAMC represents a major purchasing hub. If all, or even only most, AAMC affiliated institutions adopt SMART by GEP, it will become one of the largest procurement implementations situated in a cloud. Equally, the savings could be immense if simplified processes are a consequence.
