(MENAFN) The state-run railway company stated on Sunday, December 27, that a train taking 24 carriages of coal disrupted in southern Zambia’s Mazabuka town because of a blocked drainage.
Zambia Railways Limited acting spokeswoman Sombe Ng’onga stated that the occurrence happened in the early hours of Sunday.
She stated that preliminary investigations have showed that the derailment was produced by a blocked drainage that buried the rail line because of heavy rains.
She stated in a statement “It must be noted that this is just a locomotive (head of the train) that has capsized and 24 wagons carrying coal are intact”.
