Most eBay Shipping Rates Are Increasing For 2021

On January 24, 2021, the US Postal Service will increase rates for many of its mailing products. UPS and FedEx 2021 rate increases are already in effect. But for eBay sellers, UPS rates on eBay Labels remain at 2020 pricing at this time.

The following is an overview of the new rates to help sellers make the best decision for their business.

Sellers should double-check listings to make sure they include accurate package weights and measurements. This is important because when creating a listing using the calculated shipping option, eBay’s shipping calculator will automatically update the shipping charge a buyer sees, based on their location, and the details sellers provide for package and delivery service offered in the listing. In addition:

• eBay Labels are updated as new rates take effect. 
• Sellers offering flat rate shipping should review listings to ensure the flat covers the price increases.
• If sellers offer free shipping, they should review if they can absorb the extra costs or if listings need to be adjusted to reflect the new shipping costs.

USPS

Effective January 24, 2021, rates for the following USPS shipping services will increase:

• Priority Mail: approximately 3.5% increase.
• Priority Mail Express: 1.2% increase.
• First Class Package: 6.5% increase.
• Parcel Select: 4.9% increase.

Note: eBay is slowly phasing out the USPS Parcel Select service this year.

International Shipping Rate Adjustments

Both USPS and eBay International Standard Delivery are changing country groups in 2021 and revised rates will be effective for both on January 24. Details below:

eBay international standard Delivery

• Rates will increase an average of 1.7%.

USPS

• Priority Mail International: approximately 5.1% increase.  There will be 20 price groups, instead of 13. 
• First-Class Package International Service: approximately 4.8% increase. There will be 20 price groups, instead of 9.
