Covid update: States get Covishield doses; vaccines’ prices & procurement

  • From Indian states receiving Covishield doses to China locking down Langfang city, here are the top updates on the pandemic. Several Indian states received 1st dispatch of the Covisheild vaccine. Vaccine doses were sent from Pune’s Serum Institute of India. Meanwhile, the Centre briefed on Covid-19 vaccine’s prices, roll out, and procurement in India. Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said that the Covishield vaccine will cost around ₹200/dose (excluding taxes) while Covaxin will cost ₹206/dose in India. Centre to procure 110 lakh doses of Covishield and 55 lakh doses of Covaxin, the health ministry informed. Also, China locked down Langfang near Beijing after rising Covid-19 cases. <p>From Covaxin's phase 3 trial to China locking down Hebei, here are the top updates on the coronavirus pandemic. Bharat Biotech enrolled over 25,000 volunteers for the phase 3 trial of their vaccine Covaxin. Covaxin is one of the two vaccines to get DCGI nod in India. Meanwhile, Union health minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan held a meeting with health ministers of states and union territories. The minister asked to stop misinformation on vaccines. Harsh Vardhan said over 30 crore people will be inoculated after vaccine roll-out. Also, China locked down the largest city in Hebei province to prevent the spread of Covid after Hebei reported 51 of 52 local cases on Thursday, as per media reports.
