THE finance ministry has appointed a new board for the Central Procurement Board of Namibia to serve until 2024.

The five new members will join current chairperson Patrick Swarts and deputy chairperson Lischen Ramakutla, who both currently serve on a full time basis, with their stay at the board set to lapse come March 2022.

Among them is seasoned procurement executive Efaishe Nghiidipaa, who is currently the procurement manager at MTC and also serves as trustee and member for the Namibia Procurement Fund’s (Nampro Fund) investment committee.

Joining her are procurement expert Julinda !Garu-Oas, risk and compliance expert Amon Ngavetene, head of Procurement at Meatco, Martin Kambulu, and legal expert at the Law Reform and Development Commission, Ono-Robby Nangolo.

The board has also reappointed two members who previously served on the board – Hilya Nandago-Herman, a legal and development finance specialist and engineer Epafras Pendapala.

The appointment of the new member will be effective from 1 March 2021 until 28 February 2024 on a part-time basis.

Minister Ipumbu Shiimi expressed his excitement for the expansion of the board and believes they will bring diverse expertise and insight into the public procurement space.

“The new board performed well during the interviews and I have high hopes that under their leadership, we will take the work of public procurement to greater heights,” said Shiimi.

The Central Procurement Board of Namibia is a body established by the government to facilitate all procurement projects on behalf of public entities. This includes conducting bidding processes on behalf of public entities, entering into procurement contracts, overseeing accounting officers in managing the implementation of procurement contracts and the awarding of contracts for the procurement or disposal of assets.
