It’s not Amazon, but a 44-year-old electrical contracting business has acquired a Grand Island office and warehouse building from an industrial insulation contractor.
CIR Electrical Construction Corp. paid $564,000 this week to buy a 26,000-square-foot facility on 1.5 acres at 2517 Long Road.
The electrical and solar contractor is currently located at 400 Ingham Ave. in Buffalo.
The property was formerly occupied by Coverco, which designs, makes and installs industrial and commercial heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, as well as insulation for buildings, pipes, tanks and boilers.
Founded in 1973 by William Schaab, the company’s ownership later passed to his son, Richard, and his daughter-in-law, Elizabeth, who now run the business and relocated it. William Schaab, now 93, is retired.
“All they did was insulation, so it was a very clean business,” said Vito Picone of McGuire Development Co., who brokered the sale.
