The Hong Kong Association of Freight Forwarding and Logistics (HAFFA) and the China International Freight Forwarders Association (CIFA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that will see them work more closely.
The partners said that they would cooperate on a range of issues, increasing commercial opportunities for its respective members and creating an “influential international logistics alliance”.
Under the terms of the MOU, an exchange platform will see representatives of both associations liaise over matters such as market trends and policies affecting the industry.
The partners said that business cooperation channels will facilitate the promotion of “inter-member commercial prospects, as well as the organisation of meetings, forums and seminars relating to opportunities relating major regional projects such as the belt and road initiative”.
HAFFA chairman Brian Wu said: “HAFFA and CIFA have collaborated successfully over the last 20 years, and our close relationship has been of enormous benefit to both our members as well as to the industry as a whole. We were delighted when CIFA initiated the strengthening of this partnership via an MOU, and we look forward to realizing the tremendous opportunities it will bring both today and over the coming years.”
The MOU also contains an automatic renewal clause of its initial five-year validity and will see the associations establish a cross-boundary communication platform to promote development in areas such as technology, regulations, quality of service, information, capital and talent.
