When it comes to fashion, Marc Jacobs isn’t afraid to experiment. The designer effortlessly infuses a dash of glamour into his everyday life. He’s worn Rick Owens platforms for a stroll in Central Park, a Stephen Jones hat while birdwatching, and even Prada runway pieces to WFH in. He has a real knack for taking the most bold or unexpected pieces, and somehow making them look totally wearable. Yes, even cargo pants.
The pocketed trousers are often associated with dads or construction workers, but leave it to Jacobs to give them a more fashion-forward twist. This week, the designer wore two kinds. First, a workwear set from his own label, Heaven by Marc Jacobs, that consisted of a blue button-up and cargo pants to match. He styled the set with a pearl necklace and peep-toe heels. He followed that fit up with a second cargo look: It included a graphic tee and black cargo pants, also by Heaven, which he again accessorized with his signature pieces: a pearl necklace and peep-toe heels.
With a more polished take like his, it proves that the utilitarian trousers can look cool and graphic. Plus, with tons of street style stars recently embracing the piece as well, you have tons of outfit inspiration to go off of. I officially declare fall the season of the cargo.
