Chandigarh: During the rabi marketing season (RMS), from April 1 to May 15, 84.93 lakh metric tonne (LMT) wheat was procured in 391 mandis of Haryana. The state managed to ensure that 100% wheat was procured through its e-kharid portal.
Farmers registered themselves on ‘Meri Fasal Mera Byora’ (MFMB) portal of the state government by entering details such as name, crop, land detail and bank details. The MFMB portal is linked to e-kharid portal on which the entire procurement operations, from issuing gate pass to payment of MSP to farmers, was executed online.
What’s more, the direct benefit transfer (DBT) scheme of the Centre was been fully implemented in Haryana. The payment of MSP for the wheat procured from farmers was made online directly into the bank accounts of farmers by FCI as well the state agencies. Online procurement and the system of direct online payment of MSP into farmers’ bank account had brought transparency, the state government said.
During the recent RMS, a quantity of 84.93 LMT wheat (FCI 6.94 LMT & state agencies 77.99 LMT) was procured in Haryana, which was 14.77% more as compared to last year’s total procurement of 74 LMT wheat.
