Air cargo transport on international routes from Incheon International Airport hit an all-time high in December last year, while passenger transport plunged amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Incheon International Airport Corporation, international flights transported 228-thousand passengers last month, down 96-point-three percent from a year earlier.
In contrast, air cargo transport on international routes increased by 12-point-seven percent on-year to over 271-thousand tons, the largest since the opening of the airport in 2001.
Air cargo transport for Japan jumped 34 percent, followed by a growth of 29 percent for the Americas and nine percent for China, thanks to a sharp rise in the country’s exports of semiconductors and bio-health products.
