FAIRFIELD —

A company with a Butler County facility is looking to hire CDL driver and warehouse selectors.

Martin Brower’s distribution center at 4260 Port Union Road in Fairfield distributes buns, burgers, fries and paper products to McDonald’s restaurants.

The company’s long-term relationship with McDonald’s began in 1956 with deliveries to founder Ray Kroc’s first restaurant in Des Plaines, Illinois, according to human resources generalist Denise Banks.

Martin Brower has grown into a multibillion-dollar, supply chain solutions company serving more than 25,000 restaurants in 19 countries with 74 distribution centers worldwide. It is part of the Reyes Family of Businesses, one of the largest privately held companies in the United States.

The company employs more than 350 team members in Fairfield, Banks said. It relocated there from Springfield in 2011.

Martin Brower is looking to hire CDL drivers to deliver to the restaurants. The driver positions start at $25.25 per hour.

It is also looking for second- and third-shift warehouse selectors to support the refrigerated distribution center. The warehouse roles start at $16.80 per hour and progress to $21.30 after 30 months. Candidates may apply at jobs.martinbrower.com.

We asked Banks about the company’s hiring efforts.

Q: What are the biggest challenges facing the company and similar companies, and how is Martin Brower uniquely positioned to address those challenges?

A: “The biggest challenge we face is the low unemployment rate in Ohio. We are positioned to address this challenge in a number of ways. We offer opportunities that are full-time and not just seasonal, competitive wages with incentives, and benefits that are truly affordable for our employees. We are a people company at our core, where team members experience a culture of engagement, learning and development, and recognition.”

Q: Some job seekers are concerned about the limits of advancement. To what degree can your employees advance from entry-level roles?

A: “We are especially proud of the tenure of our team members, and we celebrate the longevity and commitment of our dedicated associates. We have an average tenure of six years. Over half of our employees have been with us over three years, and one out of six team members have been with us 10 years or more.

“This is a testament of our values, culture and the unmatched opportunity at Martin Brower. We promote from within and have many examples of individuals that started in entry-level roles and worked their way up in the organization. Being a part of the Reyes Family of Businesses, you also provide the opportunity to progress your career by moving to the other sister companies.”

Q: What’s the most prevalent roadblock that Martin Brower encounters when it comes to hiring?

A: “The biggest roadblock that we find is candidates who do not know the Martin Brower name. They recognize our trucks and love eating at the iconic restaurant that we support. However, once hired, the rest is history since as team members are on the road to a great career with a solid company that will reward their efforts. Candidates with an open mind, the willingness to work and a desire to succeed are definitely rewarded for joining Martin Brower.”
