Chhattisgarh breaks 20 years record of paddy procurement

Breaking the paddy procurement record of last 20 years, Chhattisgarh has recorded the highest quantity of paddy

procurement this year.

 

In the ongoing procurement season, nearly 84.44 lakh MT paddy has been procured till January 21, which is 50,000 MT more than the quantity of paddy procured last year. It is noteworthy that nearly 83.94 lakh MT paddy was procured in the season last year.

 

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, the quantity of procurement and the number of farmers and agriculture yield has increased in the last two years.

 

The Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana has boosted the crop production in State.

 

In current fiscal year, the State has distributed the incentive amount of Rs 5,750 crore to 19 lakh farmers in State under Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana. Till date, 19.54 lakh farmers have sold paddy at support price. Similarly, DO of 27,70,693 MT paddy has been issued to the millers for custom milling, against which nearly 25,45,512 MT paddy has been transported already.

 

In the year 2017-18, 56.88 lakh MT paddy was procured in the state, whereas in the year 2018-19, 80.83 laykh metric tonne of paddy was purchased and in the year 2019-20, 83.94 lakh MT paddy was procured. Likewise, the number of registered farmers has also increased with each passing year. In the year 2017-18, 15.77 lakh farmers had registered to sell paddy, whereas in the year 2018-19, the number of registered farmers increased to 16.96 lakh and it increased to 19.55 lakh in the year 2019-20. This year, there has been a record increase in number of farmers registered to sell paddy at support price, i.e. 21.52 lakh.

In the Kharif year 2020-21 till January 21, 2021, 1.2 lakh MT paddy has been procured in Bastar; 55401 MT paddy in Bijapur district; 13401 MT in Dantewada district; 2.65 lakh MT in Kanker district; 1.25 lakh MT in Kondagaon district; 17252 MT in Narayanpur district; 33711 MT in Sukma district, 4.30 lakh MT in Bilaspur district; 64991 MT in Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district; 7.71 lakh MT in Janjgir-Champa district; 1.15 lakh MT in Korba district; and 3.44 lakh MT in Mungeli district. 4.98 lakh MT of paddy has been procured so far in Raigarh district; 4.96 lakh MT in Balod district; 5.7 lakh MT in Bemetra district; 3.81 lakh MT in Durg district; 3.86 Lakh MT in Kawardha district; 7.03 lakh MT in Rajnandgaon district; 6.04 lakh MT in Balodabazar district; 4.07 lakh MT in Dhamtari district; 2.94 lakh MT in Gariaband district; 6.38 lakh MT in Mahasamund district; 4.68 lakh MT in Raipur district; 1.34 lakh MT in Balrampur district; 1 lakh MT in Jashpur district; 1.03 lakh MT in Koriya district; 1.35 lakh MT in Sarguja district and 1.59 lakh MT paddy have been procured in Surajpur district.
