(MENAFN)According to the Shanghai Shipping Exchange (SSE), China’s coastal bulk cargo market witnessed an upsurge in general demand in the week ending on Friday, January 8.
The composite index for coastal bulk cargo increased 3.3 percent week on week to 1,367.92, the SSE stated.
The coal sub-index increased 4.5 percent to 1,454.13, and the sub-index for oil goods increased 0.7 percent to 1,491.73.
The SSE started the index in 2001 under the leadership of the Ministry of Transport to imitate the variations of the Chinese coastal transport market.
