Local waterway e-logistic startup Jahaji Limited has recently won prestigious Stanford University’s Seed Spark 4 South Asia Cohort programme for its problem-solving solutions and high growth potential.
The startup was also featured on the website of the American university.
Among 140 startups from various sectors and countries that participated in the cohort, over 100 startups persevered and made it through the end.
Finally, the seed spark team has announced six winners among 20 finalists of this cohort and Jahaji is one of the six winners.
Stanford Seed is an initiative of the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Seed partners with entrepreneurs in emerging markets to build thriving enterprises that transform lives.
“Jahaji is the only startup in Bangladesh to win the Stanford Seed spark cohort this year,” said Kajal Abdullah, CEO and co-founder of the startup.
“However, most important to me is that the Stanford University website featured Jahaji. As a result, a startup from Bangladesh became globally recognised as well as an opportunity created for us to join Stanford Seed’s illuminating investor, mentor, and alumni network,” he added.
Jajaji is a one-stop solution for cargo vessel chartering and tracking via a simple b2b app.
Also, this app has an inbuilt job portal where standard vessel crew can be hired after verifying the background and experience.
It has designed and developed its own vessel-tracking device, endorsed by the ministry of shipping.
It takes monthly subscription fees from vessel owners against vessel tracking service, trip commission from vessel charterer against each cargo vessel booking and weekly and monthly subscription fees from employer crew recruitment.
It has already installed their tracking device on 500 vessels and 6,000 crew profiles on this job portal and wants to install 4,000 vessels by this year.
“By 2025, we want to be a logistic data analytics company and expand our business to the South-East Asian countries,” said Abdullah.
