SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – A man was found dead Friday after he apparently fell through the roof of an abandoned warehouse in the East Village neighborhood, police said.
Officers were flagged down by a person who reported finding a man dead inside a warehouse at the corner of 15th and E streets, across the street from San Diego Police Headquarters, San Diego police Sgt. Matt Botkin said.
Investigators believe the man fell through the roof and landed on the ground inside the abandoned building, Botkin said, adding that the death was not considered suspicious.
It was not immediately clear why the man was on the roof.
The county Medical Examiner’s Office was called in to take custody of the body for autopsy and identification purposes.
Authorities initially shut down both directions of traffic on 15th Street between Broadway and E street for the investigation, but all lanes were reopened by 9:30 a.m.
