The 36th annual Fort Myers RV Show, the largest dealer-sponsored RV Show in Florida, has been canceled. It had been scheduled to take place at the Lee Civic Center Jan. 21-24.
Sponsored by Region 1 of the statewide Florida RV Trade Association, show committee members made the difficult decision to cancel the event when it became obvious that inventory issues caused by manufacturer supply chain problems would not allow participating dealers to display their various product lines.
“Many of our dealer participants said they had limited inventory on their lots,” said Region 1 President Everett Henkel III. “The Fort Myers RV Show is Florida’s premier dealer-sponsored show and we always want to provide attendees with the opportunity to see the most and best RVs possible.”
“The cancellation was caused by severe RV dealer inventory shortages due to the continued strong demand for recreational vehicles seen both locally and nationally,” said Jack Carver, FRVTA Region 1 show manager. “Additionally, a lack of parts due to supply chain issues has constrained RV Manufacturers in delivering new RVs.”
The Fort Myers show cancelation will have no impact on the Florida RV SuperShow, which is still scheduled to take place at the Tampa Fairgrounds Jan. 13-17.
Last year, the Fort Myers RV Show featured 13 dealers displaying hundreds of new RVs along with 100 booth vendors.
The show attracted almost 12,000 paid attendees.
According to Mr. Henkel, the decision to cancel was difficult since this would have been the 36th year for this quality event.
“We look forward to the show returning once again to the Lee Civic Center, Jan. 27-30, 2022,” Mr. Henkel said.
Furthermore, he said the Region was still planning its annual spring RV Show in hopes that the supply chain issues would be eliminated by then. ¦
