The Rural Agricultural Development Authority, RADA, says it is setting up a new procurement unit to address breaches in its procurement guidelines.
This was confirmed by CEO, Peter Thompson.
Mr. Thompson was speaking at today’s (January 14) sitting of the Public Accounts Committee, PAC, where he addressed RADA’s management of the rehabilitation of farm roads across the island.
The Farm Roads Programme came under the microscope last year when a report from the Auditor General indicated that there were several breaches in the operations of the programme between 2014 and 2018.
The breaches included lack of transparency in the process for the selection of roads to be rehabilitated and several breaches of the procurement guidelines for government contracts.
Responding to questions from members of the PAC today, RADA‘s CEO noted that steps have been taken to address the weaknesses in the agency’s procurement practices.
