Long Island home sales last month continued to outpace those of a year ago as inventory shrinks.
There were 2,405 homes contracted for sale in Nassau and Suffolk counties last month, up 3.6 percent from the 2,322 pending home sales in Nov. 2018, according to preliminary numbers from an online real estate database.
There were 983 homes contracted for sale in Nassau last month, a 3.8 percent increase from the 947 homes contracted for sale in Nov. 2018.
In Suffolk, pending home sales rose 3.4 percent year over year, climbing from 1,375 pending sales in Nov. 2018 to 1,422 pending sales last month.
Inventory declined last month. There were 10,931 homes (4,987 in Nassau and 5,944 in Suffolk) listed for sale with the Multiple Listing Service of Long Island as of Monday, a drop of 2.8 percent from the 11,252 homes listed at the end of Nov. 2018.
