A Manhattan wine business was left high and dry after someone removed the store’s entire inventory – 2,000 bottles valued at about $300,000, a law enforcement source told The Post.
The owner told police Tuesday night that when he was last at the Taste Wine Co. at 50 Third Ave. in the East Village on Jan. 8 all of the inventory was in place.
Prior to that date, the business had been closed for several months, he told authorities.
Stolen were 1,000 bottles of wine, 1,000 bottles of liquor and 125 wine dispensers, machines designed to serve and preserve wines at the right temperatures, the source said.
The owner placed the value of the bottles at $150,000 and said each dispenser is worth $1,200, according to the source.
“Our goal is to ensure each individual is satisfied with their wine choice, whether you’re new to the world of wine or a wine-thusiast, we want each of our customers to be confident and comfortable exploring our store,” the Taste Wine Co. says on its website.
The site lists a wide variety of red and white wines available, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Riesling, as well as champagne, Port and Sherry.
