The OC Health Care Agency reported 174 new cases of the coronavirus on Thursday, Feb. 25, raising the total number of COVID-19 cases since reporting began to 245,634.
Orange County also surpassed 3 million tests administered for the coronavirus as of Thursday. Currently about five of every 100 tests are returning positive.
There were 41 new deaths from the coronavirus reported, making the total number of people in the county who have died from the virus at least 3,889.
The data on deaths in the county is compiled from death certificates or gathered through the course of case investigations and can take weeks to process.
The county’s breakdown of deaths by age is as follows:
85 and older: 32.70% (1,258)75-84: 24.20% (931)65-74: 19.42% (747)55-64: 13.67% (526)45-54: 6.50% (250)35-44: 2.21% (85)25-34: 1.04% (40)18-24: 0.23% (9)17 and younger: 0.03% (1)
The number of patients admitted to local hospitals remains at 515. There were 160 patients listed in intensive care units on Thursday.
The California Department of Public Health vaccines dashboard reported 660,419 vaccines doses have been distributed in Orange County as of Feb. 25.
An estimated 4,635 cases of the virus have been recorded in Orange County in the last 14 days. The 14-day total was 12,745 cases two weeks ago, a decline of 63.6%
The county update said 3,003,753 tests have been given for the coronavirus since testing began locally, with at least 12,148 new tests since the previous report.
It is estimated 228,838 people have recovered from the virus as of Thursday. The count of people who have recovered is based on the prior 28-day cumulative case count.
Data posted each day is preliminary and subject to change, officials emphasize.
