PESHAWAR: Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has demanded of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to announce special incentives and packages through one window operation, especially in cargo service, to facilitate business community.
The demand was made by SCCI president Sherbaz Bilour during a meeting with a team of PIA Peshawar, headed by its district manager Saima Aslam, here on Thursday.
The chamber and PIA team agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to facilitate the business community.
According to a statement, the agreement will be signed soon between SCCI and PIA to provide better and timely facilities to traders through the national flag carrier.
The SCCI chief said that a one window operation service should be launched to facilitate traders.
He stressed the need for taking initiatives to restore the image of the national flag carrier.
Engineer Manzoor Elahi and Junaid Altaf, the senior vice president and vice president of the chamber respectively, PIA SPO Samiullah and cargo sale manager Mohammad Daud were also present in the meeting.
Mr Bilour said that SCCI was going to launch a special incentive scheme for the business community in collaboration with different private institutions and companies.
He added that a special incentive card would be issued to members of the chamber for the purpose.
He asked the PIA authorities to take such initiatives to incentivise the business community at every level that would help to increase the tendency of the traders, exporters and importers thought the national flag carrier. It would also support to make PIA as a profit making entity, he added.
Earlier, the FIA team informed the SCCI office-bearers about various packages, schemes and facilities offered by the national flag carrier across the country.
The PIA team fully agreed with recommendations and proposals of SCCI, assuring that the ideas would be shared with top management to implement them in letter and spirit.
