Project Management and Supply Chain Management Available at Pillar College

NEWARK, NJ – Pillar College has announced new concentrations in the Business Administration Degree program that are now open for enrollment. They are the Project Management concentration and the Supply Chain Management (SCM) concentration and are designed to teach students key skills that employers look for in applicants.

“At Pillar College, we prepare our graduates to recognize opportunity in times of crisis,” Dr. Rosette Adera, Chair, Business Administration & Management. “Our new concentrations in Supply Chain Management and Project Management will develop skills and competencies required to be nimble in business operations, particularly in times impacted by a global pandemic.” 

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, jobs that utilize Supply Chain Management skills such as Operations Research Analysts, and Project Management Skills such as Computer, Construction and Information Managers are expected to experience strong growth through 2026.*

Pillar College President Dr. David E. Schroeder said the college is putting renewed focus on helping students obtain skills employers are looking for in applicants. “Pillar College sees itself as a practical Christian college,” expressed Dr. Schroeder. “We are designing new career-friendly majors so that graduates will be able to get jobs right out of college.”

Some of the key competencies in the Project Management concentration are: project-planning skills, personnel management skills, team management skills project based learned, strong business communication skills, use of project management tools, critical and systems based thinking and understand core project management philosophies.

By the end of their coursework, students will be ready and confident to undertake the following certification: Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM). 

The Supply Chain Management (SCM) concentration is designed to provide students with skills to help them secure an entry-level position in SCM. SCM competencies the students will develop include:  capacity analysis and planning, demand/supply management, logistics and distribution, market and manufacturing trend analysis, currency factors, legal practices, and cultural/communication skills.

In addition to classroom training, students will complete a capstone course created in partnership with corporations, giving them the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the type of work they will be required to perform in a professional setting, and create a portfolio of work that can be shared with potential employers.
