Leading live event transportation companies Rock-it Cargo And Sound Moves, which are both subsidiaries of Rock-it Cargo USA, are joining forces and will now be known under the brand name Rock-it Global.

Rock-it Global plans to unveil its new company logo, website and leadership teams in late spring. The Jan. 26 announcement did reveal that Duane Wood, founder and CEO of Sound Moves, is joining the Executive Team as Chief Strategy Officer.

“It’s time to get excited about the future, come together and be the best we can be, jump on all the pent-up energy and optimism of a new year, successful vaccines and the shared will of our client base to get back to business. Let’s get this show on the road,” Wood said in a statement.

Rock-it Cargo CEO & President Paul Martins added, “This coming together is something long in the making. We devoted significant time and effort to bring this to fruition. I’m also extremely pleased that Duane Wood, founder and CEO of Sound Moves is joining the Executive Team as Chief Strategy Officer. His experience leading Sound Moves will be a remarkable asset to the new combined company as well as the entire group of companies under our umbrella.”

Rock-it Cargo, which was founded in 1978, is headquartered in Los Angeles and has 36 offices across the U.S. and around the world. The specialty freight forwarding and logistics company works with entertainment touring, corporate live event, sports, television & film and exhibitions industries with past clients including Lady Gaga, Bruce Springsteen Cirque du Soleil tours, BMW road shows and NFL games.

Sound Moves, which was founded in 1996, has offices in the United States and Europe. The company’s services include tour planning for live events, on-site attendance and project management, ATA carnets, customs clearance and processing, bespoke projects, concierge, and packing, storing and warehousing. Clients range from AC/DC to World Wrestling Entertainment.

Both companies have been nominated for Pollstar Award for Transportation Company of the Year and most recently Rock-It Cargo took home the trophy in February 2020.

Combining Rock-It Cargo and Sound Moves will “merge the offices, vendor networks and expertise of both subsidiaries together to ensure that the full capabilities of each are available to clients,” according to the announcement.

Until the new website and leadership teams are unveiled, Martins says that clients can continue contacting staff at the same phone numbers and same email addresses, promising the “same people … same great experiences.”

“When you’ve got the best operators in the world functioning in two different silos, you need to bring that power together to create an unbeatable organization that can provide tailored solutions for critical projects anywhere in the world, delivering for our customers the ultimate peace of mind,” he adds.
