TYNGSBORO — Greater Lowell Technical High School has announced the Class of 2020 Top 10 students and the two Cooperative Education Students of the Year.

The students were announced and recognized at a recent, remotely held School Committee meeting.

“The Top 10 students have demonstrated academic and technical excellence and achievement, leadership and service — all qualities we highly value as a school community and work to instill in our students,” interim Superintendent Jill Davis said. “We’re honored to recognize and celebrate these students and all of their accomplishments over the last four years.”

Each year, the school recognizes two students from the graduating class who have demonstrated exemplary knowledge and employability skills at their worksite placement. The mission of the school’s Cooperative Education Program is to expand a student’s educational knowledge and experience in a real work environment that directly relates to their technical program of study and career goals.

The two Cooperative Education Students of the Year are Tanya Ou and Andrew Nguyen, both of Lowell.

Andrew is in the electrical program. He began working in March 2019 at Lowell Central Electric, where he has disassembled old lighting fixtures for proper recycling from LED lighting retrofit jobs; assembled light fixtures in preparation for wiring; loaded and unloaded work trucks with materials; and filled material orders for multiple jobs. He is known at Lowell Central Electric as a positive employee who is always happy to help. Andrew plans to attend Middlesex Community College.

Tanya is in the Early Childhood Education program. She started working in April 2019 at Little Sprouts in Lowell, where she plans to work full time after graduation. Since starting at Little Sprouts, she has connected well with her students and particularly enjoyed working with infants. The families she works with appreciate the attention to detail she gives each child, and her peer teachers value her dedication and work ethic.
