Five years ago Michael Dixon moved his trucking business to a new site in FoodCentral park, near Dublin airport. At its previous base in Swords, Dixon International provided cross-docking, where goods are unloaded, sorted and reloaded onto trucks. He planned to continue the service at FoodCentral and built a 24,750 sq ft shed for it.
Soon after moving in, Dixon — who specialises in transporting temperature-controlled goods — realised there was a strong demand for high-quality warehousing and started offering the space for storage.
Today, the 14-metre (46ft) tall building’s storage footprint has grown to 65,000 sq ft and is nearly full. A second 60,000 sq ft warehouse is in the planning process — and Dixon does not think it will take long to fill.
